Authors/Publishers are invited to submit entries to the inaugural WCCA Architecture Book of the Year Award programme, organised by the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects and the Temple Bar Trust, in association with the World Architecture Festival.
For these inaugural awards, the time frame is any book published in 2020, 2021 or 2022. The submission deadline is Friday 21st April; there is no entry fee.
You would need to send three copies of any book you are submitting to the organiser office (detailed below), which would then be dispatched to the judges. There will be three judges per category.
Entries should be published in English (translations into English welcome).
The categories are:
- History
- Biography (could include autobiography)
- Building (monograph)
- Practice (monograph)
- Typology (monograph)
- Technical
- City/country architectural guide
- Plus: a special prize for an exemplary book which falls outside the above categories
A cover note should be provided with each set of entries stating:
Entry category (or special prize submission); Title; Author; Publisher; Date of publication.
Publishers of the category winners will be asked for three additional copies for review by the final jury determining the overall winner.
Category-winning authors and publishers will be invited to a reception at Temple Bar London in June, to coincide with the London Festival of Architecture, where they will receive their awards. An architectural book fair is planned for that month, where winners will have the opportunity to discuss their books in live-streamed/recorded discussions, also at Temple Bar London.
